AMBER - OF ORGANIC ORIGINS
Geologists attribute amber to the minerals group of materials, yet it is by no means fossilised resin as such, but an organic material comprising of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen.
Amber's composition is usually as follows:
approx. 80% carbon (C),
10% oxygen (0),
10% hydrogen (H).
Amber contains traces of another 12 chemical elements - nickel, copper, magnesium, iron, sodium, calcium, manganese, aluminium, silica, gold, nitrogen and sulphur.
Amber's chemical formula is C10H16O
